We Care
Big Heart Carers was launched in the early stages of 2017.I was asked by a friend to look after his mother while he was away on business. My first patient was an Alzheimer’s victim. I had firsthand experience in this, as my father was diagnosed with Lewy Bodies Disease Dementia. After my first shift ended, I thought long and hard about my experience helping a patient who had this dreadful disease. In a way it was paying homage to my father by helping people with a similar illness. I would help them the same way I would have helped my father. In the meanwhile, my mother passed away recently from Covid. She previously had 2 strokes and was in remission with Breast Cancer.
We are and always will be caregivers that will stand out above the rest. We have a unified goal to treat all patients with the dignity that they deserve, in the surroundings of their own home. We are a team of caregivers who work with integrity, honesty and above all, a genuine passion for the job at hand. We have a love for people and on top of the caregiver duties, we also cater for the patients who need to get away and do shopping as well as basic outdoor exercise. We have worked with patients who have or have had Motor Neurone Disease; Dementia;Alzheimer’s; a Stroke; as well as Amputees.Our caregivers are available from a minimum of 4 hours a day and up to 24hours a day. A weekly check and discussion with the client will be conducted by me personally.
We will create individualized care plans, monitor medication usage, and assist them with their daily needs. This includes light housework, preparing meals, transportation, and providing good old-fashioned companionship. It is important that each of our patients can trust and depend on us as a caregiver and a friend. Working in private homes has allowed us to give more personalized attention to our patients and ensure that they are most comfortable.
