Training Facilitator
Benedict has more than 14 years of experience with a background in acute care practice including critical care and emergency/trauma care, assisting patients with activities of daily living, as well as caring of the elderly. In addition, his goals are to promote safe practice through the implementation of clinical practice or evidence-based guidelines in the clinical area in order to achieve positive patient outcomes. He has a Ph.D. in Nursing
Stellenbosch University (SU), Cape Town, South Africa. He also has a Master’s in Nursing Sciences from Nelson Mandela University (NMU), Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE) from Stellenbosch University (SU), Cape Town, South Africa.

Big Heart Carers was launched in the early stages of 2017. Big Heart Carers is paying homage to my parents. My father had Lewy Bodies Disease and my mother is a breast cancer and stroke survivor. I have treated each patient with the care that they deserve. I have worked with patients who have, or have had, Motor Neurone Disease; Dementia; Alzheimer’s; a Stroke; as well as Amputees.
My goal is to treat all patients with the dignity that they deserve, in the surroundings and comfort of their own homes. I work with integrity, honesty, and above all, a genuine passion for the job at hand. We have a genuine love for people.
Big Heart Carers is a family that treats all its patients with sincerity.

I had Seven Patients, of which I helped them in their day-to-day routine, which included helping with their medication and exercise as well as cleaning and cooking for them.

I am a qualified, dedicated caregiver with 6+ years of experience providing care and companionship for senior citizens. I have experience in supporting people with dementia with personal care, leisure and household tasks, with an emphasis on promoting and maintaining the patient’s wellbeing and independence. I monitor and record their vital signs and my observations are in line with professional guidelines and that I maintain patient confidentiality. I take pride in treating every individual with dignity, offering emotional support and empathy in addition to practical care.

As a Care Worker, I take care of mostly the elderly and Frail. I have taken care of people who have Alzheimer's and Dementia, also bedridden patients. I have seen patients with bedsores and treatment thereof. At the moment I am taking care of an 85-year-old male who had 2 heart attacks, suffers from hypertension, and goes for dialysis and blood transfusions. I see to his daily needs, cook for him and check his vitals to make sure that all is in order. I also build a good relationship with his family to keep them up to date and give them peace of mind that their loved one is well taken care of. As a Carer, you need to have empathy, compassion, and patience in order to do your job to the best of your ability. This is my passion and I love every moment of what I do.
